This is a real 1970 dodge challenger rt 440 v-code 6 pac car. It is not a shaker hood purple car. The owner at that time bought itoff of a board at the local car parts store at that time it had a 340 6 pac and retained its factory color of f3light green metallic. Still had a 4spd and dana with 4;10 gears. After purchasing the car he had all the customwork done and did not care it was a v-code car and does not know what happened to the fender tag and he does notremember the guys name he bought it from. The car and history is well known in the st louis mo mopar area. But thatis as far back as the history of the car is known. So what is known is it was f3 green 440 6 pac 4spd dana supertrac pac car. In the late 80's the car had a electrical fire and burnt the interior up and the insurance company totaled thecar out. He bought it back and striped the car and it went to the junk yard and sat there for a few years untilsomebody peeled back the white fur on the dash and saw the vin number and saved it from the junk yard and it waspassed around to 4 or 5 owners until i got it and restored it to the condition it is now. I decided to restore it how i would of ordered it new. I got it as a shell and it came out of body shop that didnot finish it they replaced a frame rail due to setting on the ground and the roof skin was warped from the fire. They also had partial quarters on it when i got it. I cut them off and put good mark full quarters on and finishedall the body work and did full rotisserie restoration and painted it with the help from the owner of claydoe custompaint. That was 9 years ago. The interior is legendary. The gauges are original with the clock and tac rebuilt andwork perfect. The motor is bored 30 over with sealed power forged pistons 6 pac rods and balancer and the hemi oilpan with high volume pump oil psi is between 60 and 80 psi. The heads have stainless steel valves and hardenedseats and are set up to run super unleaded pump gas. The intake is the cast iron one with original holley carbsrebuilt by pro-max out of indy. It is a fun car to drive and take to shows and cruises. The car is not a 100 point show car the paint has a few blemishes and nics and scratches and there is a smallbubble on the bottom of the driver door.

Vehicle was purchased as shown and has been driven by owner for the last year. (selling as owner upgraded tomaserati gt) vehicle was converted with coupe rear kit after being rear ended. Vehicle drives true and straight. Everything on the front of the motor shows to be untouched and is flawless/original. Did upgrade wheels to 6 spoke wheels as shown, and occasionally trips the check engine light - ran codes and showsup as a speed sensor issue.

This ford wasnamed after the historical douglas c47/ dc-3 used in ww2 and korean war known as “the gooney bird”, by thepilots who fly them, the name was given to the car by the owner who was a member of the u. Air force during thekorean war, he also was responsible for grafted on the 1951 crown victoria top at his shop ronlyn collision. Thecar now official known as “the gooney bird” competed and won first place in its class at the very first clutchartist auto-rama in buffalo new york , july 12-13 1958. This 1947 ford is a true example of an all steel old school 1950’s kustom. The famous george barris crest: the story go’s that when barris first saw “the gooney bird” sometime in 1997while in buffalo ny it had just undergone a frame off restoration and was still being prep for paint, his initialinstinct was that his brother sam had either built this 1947 ford or somehow had a hand in building it, when herealized that sam hadn’t built the car he wanted to badge this 1947 ford coupe with his logo crests stating thatit is a true example of a traditional historical 1950’s custom that he and sam would have built and deserved toware the famous barris crest, this is the ultimate endorsement by the king of custom cars., george also signed hisname to the dash. “the gooney bird” has worn those famous barris crest ever since that time. After being taken out of the public eye for many years “the gooney bird” showed up on the show circuit againin 2000 and went on to take second in its class at the 2000 detroit autorama, it’s also on the 2004 decembercover of kkoa magazine.
